The Fight


Many times, my heart stands still
Listening, breathing, breaking
So certain this cancer isn’t God’s will
Knowing it is darkness that is always taking

Many times, my soul falls into fear
Whispering, murmuring, feeling
Lost among the pressures of each tear
Praying for my Savior’s precious healing

Many times, my spirit needs consoling
A blessing, a miracle, sanctification
This cancer’s hatred is so controlling
But there is a love at my foundation

Many times, my prayers are unspoken
Lost on wordless lips who need
Because of cancer, my heart is broken
But I know One who will intercede

Many times, cancer tries to write my story
Filling me with lies – dissuading light
But there is hope, awaiting me in glory
Where Jesus wins even the worst fight0

Through Life's Clenched Jaw

Fear seeps into my pores, and I sweat droplets of dread
Where I once saw you walk this path and I quietly read
The feelings that we shared, the blessings that prepared
My heart and yours, for this darkness that declared…

Cancer, the word no one wants to hear
The word so awful it brings the soul a tear
The feelings, bleeding through the night
Silence the wind, leave the world in fright

Cancer, the reason that I write these verses
In a prayer, praying healing that curses
All the darkness that has come with this disease
Cancer is a illness that causes you to fall to your knees

I wonder, though I believe, was I faithful enough?
Why has this darkness fallen – will it make me tough?
I feel so alone, so sad… God, wasn’t I tough ENOUGH? ENOUGH!!!
This pain, this valley, this struggle will surely rebuff

Cancer, leave my story – please just go away
God, please heal my husband, who I pray
Will live a long and happy life, a life I can say
Was blessed by love and healing that will not betray!

A Growing Hope

Violent as the gleaming blade
Of a vicious criminal crazed
Ferocious as the lion’s jaw
Lingering on an innocent calf
This wicked affliction forces
Its teeth into the harmless heart
Bites wildly into vulnerable flesh
With haste to destroy and devastate
End the life that it penetrates
With a hatred that is inhuman – merciless
Ruthless as the worst of the worst

Abolishing hope as it grows and grows
Breaking hearts and wills with its
Lack of empathy and sympathy
Luring dreams into the night, darkening
The promise of a happier day,
Filling minds with dread and depression
Anxiety that lingers even after
The moment has passed and time
Struggles to alleviate the pain
The widespread anguish of knowing
That this big malady holds all of tomorrow

Painting the thoughts in hues of doubt
Disillusionment and discouragement
Feelings clouded with silvery fog
Lingering on the emotions in shimmering
Waves of deathly black sorrow
Breathing fear through the spirit
And whispering in tones of weariness
Regret and mourning come to the heart
Even though some might tell you
There is hope.. a flicker of courage
The possibility of healing, recovering
From this demented beast with its claws
Of deathlike horror playing across
The light that reminds you life will be brighter
Sometime,… after the treatments 
The drugs and cures that are meant to repair
First seem to destroy every awareness
That there will be a breath of fresh air
A new dawn – a second thought, the color
Of joy and promise and miracles prayed for

It is only a moment that comes and goes
A flicker of optimism amid the skeptical thoughts
When you realize only God knows the outcome
Of this feared disease, cancer… the ending
The sequel will reveal what only He sees
And I know, it is only God who can spread
Healing where the cancer cells have spread
Death and destruction… doubt that dissuades
Even the inkling of faith that will tell you
God’s love is still alive and well, sending you
Inspiration, hope and faith that can reveal the truth….

Cancer can kill the body but the spirit is still God’s
His love is the best treatment for this disease
The best remedy for any need
With God, all things are possible – just believe!

Not a Four Letter Word, Still Yet
Even Then

He’s not lost his smile
Had it since he was a child
His heart still longs to hear
The words that some will fear,
“I love you”… three little words
Who reach beyond the hurt,
Sing gentle to the heart,
Bring music to the thoughts
His soul – it is not lost, because 
Above all, love has brought him through
The dark, the storms, the doubts – 
Jesus settles every skeptical breath

He’s not gone without this feeling,
Hues of hope, coloring him brilliantly,
A vibrating sense of peace and promise,
Arriving on the stone cold silence,
Bidding joy to his aching – grief born
With the final word, his doctor’s diagnosis

Cancer, he’s heard…

Still, he’s not lost his smile
He’ll continue for another mile
Hoping for healing, yet the verdict
Revealing that he is sicker than the words
Stage four, will he make it past the month?

Cancer, he’s heard…
Can silence his nerve, stir up discomfort
Throbbing in the bones, stinging
Aching anguish, failing to reconcile
Restore his smile for that last, lonely mile

It Has No Right

Wings settle, feathers light as the glistening dew who rests gently on each tender petal. The crimson edges of melancholy, roaring with the wind’s breath, listen to my prayers and I hesitate, uncertain. Will God hear the hunger in my voice, the famine that lingers, the need far greater than any prayer I’ve spoken in my sixty years? Will He hear, listening for the fear, heeding the tear, welcoming my plea for healing? And, will cancer fade into remission because my  voice holds a thirst that I’ve yet to quench, a thirst for a future with the person who sits closest to me in the pew each Sunday, the person who rests his eyes on me first thing each morning, the person who is my person? Will cancer listen when I pray and will it listen when God says for its shadow to fade from my life, leaving only the slight impression of a memory where it once grew into a grief far more severe than the blackest night? It must listen to my voice, my prayer, my praise of the One who is my heart’s resting place at this moment when all else has failed and nothing on earth feels quite as warm as it once did. It must hear the voice of our Creator and realize that it has no right to consume the person that has been my person in good times and hard times. It has no right. It has no right. It has no right.

Wings settle on limbs
Leaving impressions of grace
My heart bleeds prayers

Cancer's Hell



When I don’t know how to pray
And everything I could think of to say
Has been whispered, a supplication
Entreating Jesus, my life’s foundation…

I feel a tear slide down my cheek
And God knows the healing I seek
Will He answer with a cure?
I believe His grace will endure

When I don’t understand this disease
Cancer tells my spirit to fall to my knees
No one I know can explain this war
There isn’t a doubt it’s a grief I abhor

I feel the pain grow in my soul
Yes, it’s true that cancer stole
Pieces of my peace, my hope and belief
Will our lives ever know sweet relief?

When I don’t know what is happening
And the dread in my spirit – battling
This darkness, these shadows, this fear
All my life has changed – but God is still near

I feel the lost that colors me gray
I bow to Him who is love and I pray
For God to heal this disease, this war
These are feelings we can’t ignore

When I don’t know how to seek His grace
I listen to the Psalms, feel His warm embrace
Rising from the fear that leaves me yearning
I rest in the promises of a love that’s burning

I feel like he’s gone through the worst of the worst
And I know that he must be feeling like he’s been cursed
But there is Jesus and He shows us that there’s hope
If we’ll only listen in faith, He’ll help us to cope

When I don’t see my blessings for the shadows of doubt
I know that my Father is still seeking me out
And though I may not understand the why or how
I believe God is able and He’s with us right now

I feel alone sometimes, like I haven’t a chance
But I look at the darkness of this circumstance
And I know that Jesus can kill cancer completely
I know He can heal and I feel His love so deeply

When I don’t know the way and I just can’t say
What it feels like to face this – oh, I just pray
Whatever happens, in the day or night
There is a Father who makes all things right

I love my husband and I pray that I can be his helper
In this dark time, I hope he feels I’m a shelter
And I seek the Savior with prayers and praise
Knowing that He is worthy – His love can still amaze

So if you can take a moment to say a quick prayer
Please pray for God’s healing – I know you’re aware
Cancer is a killer and we’re praying it won’t prevail
Pray for God’s grace to destroy cancer’s hell

The God I Know


With a voice like thunder – some days
gentle blessings on others, as my heart prays
from the old, old story – 
His cross led to lasting glory
no one on earth would have expected
the beautiful love His grace perfected
as He died and was buried, 
His lifeless body was carried
away, destined for the lonely grave
who could have known this loss would save?

With a voice like a river – some days
flowing quietly, in the stillness, I praise
the One who wrote this love story
my heart and soul are bound for glory
where I’ll meet the One who died
the One who knew all about my pride
and, yet – He left this world a place
where His death would stir sweet grace
and I’d know what it is to doubt 
but, soon all I will be able to do is shout!

With a voice like rain – some days
through the shadows, I see the Son’s rays
there He is, alive – because He survived
the test of death and hell, His love revived
so I can know that God is always with me
offering hope and faith – I’m completely free
because of what He gave, His life, His love
forgiveness for my sins, sent from God above
What I wouldn’t give to be able to show you
the beauty of this love that made me brand new.

With a voice like salvation – some days
I lift my arms to the heavens, just to praise
He knows me better than I can possibly explain
the grace that He offers will forever remain
the reason that I know what it is to truly hope
that my faith will sustain so that I can always cope,
that His love will bring me through the worst,
and even when I feel like my whole life is cursed
I know someone, the only ONE who can save
I’m so thankful for that cross where He gave
everything, so that one day – I can see His face
and know that love has made a way, through grace
I have all that I’ll ever need, all the love and peace
I know God is alive and His love will never cease!

With a voice like belief – some days
I keep reaching up to praise…
Praise the One who loved more 
Loved so much our sins He bore
So that love would win 
and our lives could truly begin
Oh, this light – Just let Him in
so you can feel His spirit within,
so you can know the meaning of life
a love that will heal all your strife
this is the love that makes it all worthwhile,
because He is love, my heart He will reconcile.

With a voice like light – some days
love assures me that I feel the Son’s rays
and the answer to everything I fear
is that His love will silence each tear
He will always love me – His love is sincere!

Belief



In your eyes, reflected to me
are memories of beautiful,
trembling pieces of laughing hope
still colors of grace and belief
feelings pouring from the shadows
never just make believe
always like the wonder of quiet faith
the struggle between knowing
and just letting light stay
frail as the summer and hesitant
glowing like the splendor
God’s holy joy – amazing love
poured out over the nights,
whimsical notes of praise and prayer
faithful and sure, abiding
so that even the glimpse of hope
shushes the breathless calm
unburdened by the yesterdays
released, His gospel
who can see His amazing
in the heart, in the soul, in the spirit
who assures…

in your eyes, glistening – glittering
like the music fading
blessings in every song
winter’s treasures, seeds of autumn sold
rumored to hear the leaves
who dance through the gold and orange
the leaves who resemble flowers
all whispery and edged in rusty memories
tones of dust like dreams
flowing through the midnight 
happiness requests her blush
bruised by the frailest dawn
light bursting beyond
the lavender skies
fading into feelings, hesitant
winds warring with warmth
pleasant as the sunrise
softly flowing
essence of the moon’s noise
silent and fiery red
softly bowing to the songs
fading into the darkness
guitars playing, strings aching
to be heard, felt by the light
who blesses away the past
the glow of a spirit
reflected on the horizon,
beautiful tune of hope…

winsome afterglow,
wings like flames in epiphanies
smoldering underneath
rising realms of luminous 
songs, notes steadfast
and dancing
waltzing through the maze
hearts blistered by the sayings
while I look past the stars
His light mystifies 
faithful hues of glistening
scriptures written by the saints
who breathe melodies
in gentle psalms,
prayers hasty and echoed
into the mountains
where oaks and pines
stir the thoughts
with a glorious serenity,
lulling the feelings
blessing away the doubts
and feeding the night
angelic sounds….

the laughter of midnight
moon recoiling
beneath the distant gloom
while I ache from the inklings
beautiful and gentle
pouring out rivers of incidental
miracles in elms
peace on the currents
winsome waters, curving
across the stones
smoothed by the gushing
fluid – liquid steel
in softest stories, told
by the hills, the winds
the breathless seeds of wildflowers
spiraling over the distant limbs
erasing the memories
a past filled with diamond reflections
boasting of the time
before the stones came to life
glinting and glowing
silencing the songs of autumn
with wonders untold,
endless stories revealed
by the earth who hears
His breath rising
beyond the oaks, the pines
His glorious words
spoken on light, stirring
deciding that being born again
means giving up the consuming
doubts who render souls 
weak – defenseless

Our best defense is the grace He sent
when He mouthed the words
It is finished…

never forget the words
they remind us, when time ends
we all win – we’ll finally be with Him
the One who came to redeem us
the One who ended fear
the One who will wipe away every tear
the One who is love so sincere
He is love that lives forevermore
He is love that opens the heart to assure
of forgiveness that takes away all doubt
offering assurance of life everlasting!

Our hearts are sought by the One who came
to show us His glory, to heal and destroy
the fear that dissuaded our souls,
fear that my heart can’t recall
because His love sends hope so strong
His love colors us in a courage that sings
of hope, faith and love – a harmony named ‘belief’.

Knowing Love


In each prayer, through words sincere, I hear Him smile with a voice so alive, a voice that decides when His song begins, when His voice stills, when His love reveals the joy in knowing how it feels to love without reason, to love completely, to love – believing… by poet

Reckless songs silence the ache,
Breathless lyrics, memories being made,
In colors of light, softly glowing,
Pouring out life through the hearts who believe,
Those who see Him in each shadow, each tree,
Those who see Him amid the embers of grace,
The beauty in a face, the soothing embrace…

He is light – He is love – He is the moment I think of…
When I gave my life to Him, 
And it seems, this was the only place to begin…

Seeing the hope, raining down from His skies,
Feeling the love, lingering on the light,
Knowing the belief, forever soft and silent,
Hope, faith and love… abiding in the soul,
Stirring my spirit, my memories… remembering…

I’ll always believe – I will always believe
Because He is the sweetness in each sun,
He is the light that abides through the dark,
He is the joy that silences every fear,
He is the gentle that wipes away the tears,
He is the moment when I sought to truly feel…

The wonder of a love that is more than real.
This is a love that comes from God Himself.
It abides in the soul and never leaves me alone.
It is like a prayer’s shadow, always reaching down.
It is filled with kindness and mercy, compassion…
That is like an unending embrace, a feeling of faith.
It is a lesson learned, assurance that God has won.
It is the miracle of a soul who knows Jesus is the hope…
That allows love to always hold on to the soul,
Allows love to always take away the worst that comes,
Allows love to abide inside the one who knows HIM,
The answer, the promise, the way to peace that fulfills.

He is the One that brings me to tears.
And, He is the One who wipes away every fear.
He is the One I turn to when I’m in need.
And, He is the One who frees my soul from sin.
He is the One who lives inside where I know…
Faith that believes – with Him, I’ll always survive,
The worst that is, the despair and the dread.

With HIM, I know what it means to be alive.
With HIM, I’m someone who seeks to shine …
A light of love that offers grace to those who yearn…
For the ONE I know – as God’s one and only Son,
The answer to each prayer, the love that is aware…
Wherever Jesus is… there is love that always gives,
There is love that forever lives… 

Love is Jesus’ gift to His children.
Love is Jesus’ promise, His wisdom.
Love is Jesus’ reason for forgiveness.
Love is Jesus’ light – God’s reflection,
Always shining hope through the spirit,
Always shining … inspiring, inviting…
Hearts to love – to sing – to give,
To lift their voice with a song to still…
Every darkness, every fear, every doubt,
With love that only God could have brought out,
Love that only the Son could have stirred…
With His blood, He proved His love –
Without the shadow of a doubt –
We’re always going to know saving grace,
We’re always going to seek God’s will,
We’re always going to hear His voice in the stillness,
As we praise Him who knows us… as sincerely faithful!

His Book

It’s the color of November, gray blue
weak as water…
	yet water can change the strongest steel,
		the sturdiest breath,	silenced
			by the water’s still, calm gesture…

in laughing swells, tears 
like currants, 
	blistering the surface of azure seas,
		growing, rising, surging with energies,
melodies of light, flowing beyond the moment
	into the blessings of a song
		where hope rises…

all night long, on the verge of wonder
	where my heart aches, seeing the waters
		flesh against the raw liquid,
blazing like the distance,
	where light erases the shadows,
		healing all the imaginings, the streams
	curving through the rivers,
			blessing, settling, reflecting…

the meaning of what begins when October ends,
	as November sends her whisper, sighing like Sunday
		where the journey ceases to be a burden,
becoming something worthy, a moment He prepares for those
who believe Him, when He says He is bringing…
	joy overflowing, living waters, the tides bursting
		over the surface of shame and guilt,
			leaving a trail of sensitive,
forgiveness that lifts the spirit and embraces eternally
	embraces, those who believe
		seeing the truth in the rhythm
			sunshine bleeding through storms,
		shining so all the world can see…

He is the light, the beautiful, the miracle 
	that agrees… beyond the still waters
flows a love like we’d never be capable of seeing
without the eyes He opened when He rescued us from our nonbelief
our sins, washed away by the lasting peace that He forever leaves…
	singing to our spirits, reassuring, redeeming,
		saving souls from the worst there is,
	a life without the One whose song continues on…

leaving the world with a hope that love sings 
	while God redeems,
		freeing the souls
			who believe He is …

everything that means anything
	everything that sees… our need,
		salvation from the sins that defeat,
			freedom from the doubt and despair,
He saves us so we’re forever alive,
	forever with the love that abides
		when He crushes our pride,
	and signs our name in His book of life!

Dear Jesus,


When I remember – it is not I
who kindles the gentleness, the humble light

who ignites the kindness, the stirring of amazing

who reflects God’s wonderful, on the song
on the faith, on the serenity and praise….

When I remember – it is not I
who sings of forgiveness, grace and peace
when I remember – it is the love of my God
who trembles within me, 
when I pour out my heart, when I know
what it is to love beyond my own
understanding, my own selfish dreams
When I remember – it is love that lives 
because of Him, my heart’s greatest friend

When I remember – it is not I
who lives to give a part of the gift
that He gave when He saved me –

Leaving the heart with the SON

He Cares

How can I find my way back
From the shadows, the darkest
Days, when I felt, all I lack
The fears that haunt, the tears

Tears falling from eyes colored blue
Tears destined to become a flood
Feelings flowing from a heart still true
Blessed by this Jesus who brings me through

Through the darkness, through the pain
I feel the sorrow – this life is insane….
His love offers solace despite the worst rain
When I don’t know how, He makes a way

A way through the worry, through the night
When all the worst comes with heart strife
He is the wonder that shines His grace light
Flowing with a melody of joy, hope and love

Love that reminds me I can overcome the pain
Wherever I go, I feel His love silencing the sad

This faith in the King who told me of grace

He is the way, the truth, the life – the Savior
Who writes my story upon a cross where I grieve
Knowing that He gave it all so I’d be saved

Saved from the worries, saved from the tears
Because I know this Jesus, I whisper prayers
Meant to reveal my spirit – despite all my fears
He knows me better, and I’ll always know He cares.

Reflections of Grace

Some people are glimpses of what I believe we’ll see when we meet with a risen Savior and realize the wonder of grace, hope and peace – love that is eternal and feels like light pouring over the spirit, joy unfolding in the heart, overflowing gladness. The rapturous notes of a song, a psalm, a poem written by the ink of innocent blood only Jesus, the Word, could have emptied into lost souls.

Following… a poem for the ones who have touched me, through their kindness, their insight, their wisdom and grace, their gentle gifts – faith that agrees, theirs is a love that only Jesus could have poured into them. Theirs is a love that only God could have filled them with. Theirs is a love that only hearts who know Him as everlasting could possibly understand or accept. Because of this love that Jesus stirred within, I know that there are hearts so blessed I couldn’t possibly express with mere words the beautiful, the joy, the peace that silences all doubt and reassures us all that Jesus is the answer to every fear, each tear. He is the One who is alive and full of a love that we can’t explain because its so amazing, Oh, Jesus is so worthy of all our praise. Let’s always praise Him,

Andrea, Barbara, Tamera, Lisa… 
All the others who can’t be unremembered
They are like joy, peace and love

Names written on the heart, amazing
Gentle tones of grace and hope
Wonderful that is God whom we’re praising
Oh, such love… so sweet and wise

Wisdom found in the souls who see
Beyond the shadows, the secret grief
Into the melodies that can only be
A part of the spirit who aches to be free

Free, like the night who guides the stars
The wonder of a love, found in those souls
Who give from the heart, sweetest memoirs
Abundant life – He is the answer that knows

He knows the ones who give so much love
Love that lives in those who believe
Believe in the Savior who came from above
To shine His light for all the world to see

I see Him in the hearts who’re so giving
Precious souls who give from their spirit
Teaching everyone they touch about living
With the grace that comes through His love

Jesus is the answer for everyone in need
He died on a cross so we could believe
He would win over all the pride and greed
Offer us a hope that love can succeed

Love, in those eyes who I’ve met on the way
The way to everlasting, is a way through pain
It is on this road that I’ve learned to pray
Pray to the One who silences the worst rain

Child of the King
Child of the King, 
Who is my everything.
He makes my heart sing.
To His love I’ll forever cling.

Although I’m not a real beauty, my heart is sincere and tender.
Though I’m less than perfect, my soul always gives God the glory – I surrender to the love that is more loving than I could ever vindicate.
I may not always be wise, but God still shines His light, so I smile.
I am Southern, an Appalachian native – poet, writer, reader, gardener, believer!
It is through love unearthed, where I’ve realized my greatest achievements and triumphs.

I’m the only child of a woman who should be called love because she has always given with a heart that is pure gold. She brings blessings untold!

My greatest blessings from above are those whom I love – my husband, my mother, my entire family. Without the ones I love, the ones who make my life feel worth it, I wouldn’t be who I am. I’d be like the bird without its song, the heart that feels all wrong, the dark that lasts too long.

I feel my best when I’m giving – be that time or money, smiles or poems, light or laughter – whatever comes from the heart and feels like I’m bringing a part of God’s gift of hope. I feel like my life is well spent on giving to others, even when I feel like what I give is not enough – never could it be enough to present even a portion of the joy and peace that God granted me when He came to live inside my heart. I feel like I’m blessed more than I deserve and my best gift is the love that comes from above. I feel most content when His grace is poured out through my own life and I share this wonder that makes everything alright.

I fear the moment when my mom moves from this life to the next with a great dread that leaves me in tears, pleading with God for just a little longer to say what I should, be the daughter who I would have always been if I’d listened to the words of the One who helped me to see that this love I have for my mom is love that He placed in me, love that sheds light into the darkest shadows, love that reminds me why our lives truly matter. I fear losing my mom, my husband, my hope. I fear the sadness, the grief that will color me in doubt. I fear the moment when I say goodbye to peace. I fear the day when I can’t pray, the day when I can’t say love will find a way. I fear losing the One who is my heart’s foundation, the One who stills the seas, the One who I’ll always need. But, then I remember, I can’t loose the One who promised He’d always be with me – protecting, inspiring, reminding that He is eternal!

I would love to see the world accept Jesus as their King. I would love to see the light that never ends. I would love to see the face of the One who saved me from all my sin. I would love to see what it means to live life in such a way that He will say, “well done, my child, well done.” I long to hear those words from God’s one and only Son.

Citizen of the mountains where my heart found the fireflies, the butterflies, the hummingbirds and peace. Blessed by the robins, the stars, the moon who rises beyond the ridges. Eager to walk into the forests where trees feel like friends. Inspired by the rain, the snow, the wildflowers who stir dreams and visions. I’m a citizen of a natural world where the wild frees me from the lack of words and offers me a poem written by wonders I’ve found in autumn’s leaves, spring’s petals and summer’s creeks. Because I’ve experienced life as a mountain girl, I can honestly say that I’ve known a joy that I just can’t explain. Life in the mountains is certainly a blessing from heaven and a blessing I’ll always be grateful for having.

Divine magnetism
Going Home

His home, where He was from, Heaven,
eternal, everlasting, everything
good, comes from the heart who breathed hope,
the spirit whose song was never ever wrong,
it trembled with rhythms of light, soft,
inviting the wonder to emerge from the lyrics,
breathe love through the feelings,
a melody who is listening – to endless dreams,
carried on the hearts of those who believe,
forever and ever – He’s in the heart who sees…

truth, coloring the nights, silencing fights,
erasing the darkest storms, with a joy
that is forevermore, joy that restores the light,
as it dances against the blackest nights,
silences the doubting, amazing the shouting…

the winds that still the breathless grief,
the pains that remember to just let go,
the sighs of hearts who can no longer roar,
the beat of a tune only God could have stirred,
the music in a soul who believes forevermore.

gentle, like the dandelion’s seeds, drifting,
in hues of compassion, ever agreeing to a waltz,
aching to soothe the shame, never let the blame,
imprison the rain, the kindling of grace,
the remembrance of fate who is as wise a place,
as the shadows who contain all the fire’s flames,
the feelings that quiet as they maim,
erasing the joy who God allows to remain,
even during the heaviest sorrows,
the freshest wounds, those that embrace us,
with a story, a tune, a wisdom that is assured…

by His light, His love, His sincerest hope
poured over the quiet soul,
defining what is meant to be,
where there is joy – where there is peace,
abiding in the rising Son, 
the One who waits to bring us, each one, home,
to heaven, where God is on the throne,
the source of joy, the source of hope, the source
we follow and the source who holds tomorrow…

with His hand, He laid the bricks that demand,
our hearts to hear the beating of the gales,
the friendship with stars who awake,
the guidance of a prayer who abides,
within His hand, He holds the music that guides,
with notes of peace, notes of grace, notes
bringing alive the melodies of our faith,

He is the way, the truth, and the life.
In His hands, holes that quiet every sin,
even sins that once told us we were not…
worthy of love or even hope –
so unworthy, because we’re lost,
but, once forgiven, told the cost,
we accept the freedom that He’s blessed,
forgiven, because He saves – His grace,
it always sustains – His love made a way,
His light never fades from the heart.

He is love and He is hope – He is alive
In the heart who knows…
Without a doubt, heaven awaits,
The heart who sees Him as life’s greatest reason!

Can You See?


I can’t see the muses,
Before they steal my heart.
There are simply no excuses,
For the wonder they impart.

I can’t see the wind,
Before it attacks the calm,
Leaving me resigned,
For storms who recite their psalm.

I can’t see the change,
Before it calls out my name,
It can feel so strange,
For change, at times, will blame.

I can’t see the song,
Before it soothes my soul,
Making me feel like I belong,
For a song can surely console.

I can’t see the dawn,
When Winter erases the sun,
Causing the gray to drag on,
For the frost to have its fun.

I can’t see the godsends,
Even though they’re everywhere,
Many times, they come as friends,
For hearts who smile a prayer.

I can’t see the reality,
When someone tells a lie,
It takes a while until I see,
For wisdom breathes a sigh.

I can’t see the timeless beauty,
In a heart of gold,
She shines like it is her duty,
For kindness has much to behold.

I can’t see the spring,
As autumn changes the scene,
But it’s such an amazing thing,
For the sun to erase the green.

I can’t see the night,
When the dawn rises to reveal,
All the wonders so bright,
For this joy of daybreak is surreal.

I can’t see the love,
That flows inside a twinkling,
When feelings rise above,
For the devotion in an inkling.

I can’t see the grace,
God’s only Son came to bring,
This is surely God’s embrace,
For His love is a wellspring.

I can’t see the way,
Beyond the ache, the tears,
But, He makes everything okay.
He silences all my fears.

I can’t see beyond this life,
But I know One who can see it all,
And He is the answer to my strife.
For His grace is there when I fall.

I can’t see so much in this life.
Often, I’m disillusioned by loss.
So He revealed to me, the afterlife,
For love, I laid it all at the cross.

I can’t see through the clouds,
Making out those blessings so sweet,
Even though I’m surrounded by crowds,
For the moment, I feel so very complete.

I can’t see everything, but I know
When I reach out to Jesus, the Son,
The glory of God will always flow,
For His love has only just begun!

I can’t see Him,
Yet He abides with me.
Just like an old, old hymn…
Therefore, I’m forever free.
Forever, yes forever – I will see!

Happy Easter Day

This is the day
When we reach toward heaven
Whispering, praying
To the Creator of everything
The One who gave us
A second chance to say to Him
Thank you, God… for grace
Thank you for this chance
To reach out in faith
And take the hand that was nailed
To a cross just three days before this.

This is the day
When we yearn to lift our voices in praise
Of the One who made a way
For us to finally say
We can visit heaven someday
Even though we’ve sinned along the way
He didn’t leave us in our sin
But chose to save us from anguish

This is the day
When we whisper through our tears
Joy that is beyond words
Because we have access to the One
Who made a way for us to go home
A way for us to pray and praise
A way for us to know the meaning of grace

This is the day
When faith will find a way
To finally reach heaven and say
He is risen – He is alive!
He survives the tests of demise
He is the Savior – He is the life
He is ascended to heaven
Where He awaits His many disciples
Those of us who know Him 
As Jesus Christ, the victor

Stunning light reflects the music,
Softly playing in hues of beautiful,
Dreamy buds, inspired by the sun,
Whisper hope in gentle creams,
Fragile pink and blushing mauves,
Delicate peach and pale lilac – peace…

Dazzling shadows, vibrant scarlet,
Glittering jewels of sapphire, luminous
As the pearly white that soothes,
Reflecting the songs of a quiet twilight,
As the leafy silence breaths hope
Through the spring’s glowing blooms.

Climbing, gliding, soaring over windy seas
Beyond the waves, through the morning’s breeze,
Perfect wings, sail gracefully…
Reminding each one that nature has her life,
With raspberry blessings, in quiet dreams,
Her heart melts the moments that foretell of spring.

Rich tints of laughter, silence the moon,
Reassuring the risktaker, blessing the truths

From a season of purity, glowing with life,

The Man on the Cross


Story of wonder, story of grace
how I yearn to see His lovely face?
I believe He will love me always
His love for me can surely amaze!

God’s blessing, His precious love
falling from heaven – sent from above
to reveal the beauty in those who see
He is the reason we’ll live eternally!

Still, clear mornings reveal His beauty
He’s in the trees, the skies, always on duty
reassuring, encouraging, making a way
even when we can’t see the light of day

It wouldn’t be Easter if I failed to see
the love of Jesus, the One who set me free
the love of a Savior who forever redeems
He is a King who brings music to my dreams

Wherever I go, whatever I’m doing, I know
there is One who lives, One who will glow
as I tell the old story, about a love that arose
the story of Easter, about One my heart chose!

Blessings come to the heart who remembers

most of the world thought this was His loss,
but three days later, when He arose from the grave

Reflections of the Past, Visions of the Future


Jacob, who swindled and swapped his stew
for the birthright, then the blessing
that he felt like were his due, 
in time, his dream would be secured,
he’d marry the love of his life,
sweet Rachel, who would one day give birth
to a son named…

Joseph, brother and son, a heart undone
by jealousy, the sin beyond words
expressing the violence of a desperate shadow
silhouettes of vengeance, complicated
by sentiments of what could have been
if only hearts had given in…
	then, his potential, forthcoming
		victory, a vision, remembered
			a dream, fathomed, fulfilled.


the children of Israel, slaves under the rule of Pharoah
who God would harden until he told Moses the slaves could go
but he’d follow – to the sea where God parted the waters,
allowing the Israelites to walk on dry land – while their pursuers
were washed beneath the sea, forever gone – 
forever erased from the earth’s soft song…

Moses led them, wandering in the wilderness for 40 years
yearning for the land God had promised them when they left Egypt –
led by the cloud, during the day
led by the fire, during the evening
they were fed manna that only God could have given,
they were given the law, so they’d know right and wrong,
the ten commandments, to teach them God’s rules…

as time continues on, there comes David, after God’s own heart
playing his instruments, glorifying his God,
killing the giant who sought Saul’s army,
destroying darkness with his kindness and charm
David brought victory to the hearts who knew him,
the one who would be King of Israel…

as the story colors between the lines, there is One
who comes to live on this earth, One who came by virgin birth,
One who knows us – the sinner, the soul, the saint
He leads us to the drink of the living water, He is life
and He is the sacrifice that silences our fears,
wipes away each tear and, despite the pain of a cross,
whispers light through the heart, comforts us when we hurt,
makes a way for our heart to praise…
	the love, His grace, He is the way
		the second chance for me to say
			when I die, I won’t have to pay
				I’ll have a new life, a new day

God’s Son came to erase the past with a love that will always last!
As Easter remembers – beyond all the winters - here is hope that keeps giving
		love that keeps living –  He never stops forgiving!

Perfect Wings

When I think of all the things I’ve done,
The pain I’ve caused, the fears that have won…
I’m left in awe of the love He’s shown,
He’s never left me lonely and my love for Him has grown.

When I think of the ways I’ve lived in the shadows,
I remember – as the sun climbed higher, He arose,
Pouring out life on those souls who believe He lives,
Yes. He went to a cross to end the fear our enemy contrives.

When I think of the light He whispered into my soul,
Seems every doubt’s been brought under His control.
While selfish me sought a way to avoid carrying my cross,
His love remembers and believes, even though I’m at a loss.

When I think of the many ways that I’ve let Him down,
I feel so very blessed because He won’t let me drown.
Despite my many flaws and failures, sin in darkest black,
With Him, I have a chance, because He’ll take me back.

When I think of how much I’ve failed Him,
My thoughts, profound, can only see the grim,
But, because He is love, my Savior,
He promises mercy, forgiving my worst behavior.

When I think of the many times I’ve ignored His word,
I’m amazed, every time I’ve prayed – He still heard,
And, when I least expect His blessings to flow into my heart,
There is perfect assurance that His love will never depart.

When I think of how He died, forsaken by God and man,
And, how He could have easily rejected the Master’s plan,
I feel like the miracle of love was shown with His death,
And, no amount of mourning would have restored His breath.

When I think of Easter and what it means to believers,
We’re not just followers – we’re the receivers,
Who know that love, this love, is more than we can contain.
It means the difference in life and death, - with everything to gain…

Love, true love, poured out in blameless blood,
through a life changing flood…
overflowing with faith, hope and grace,
rushing with forgiveness that nothing can ever erase.

In the flow of His sweet love, 
There is wonder from above,
Sent on angel’s wings,
Trembling with peace that quietly sings…

Wherever He is, that is where my soul agrees,
There is where I’ll forever be at ease.
There is where I’ll see the beautiful peace,
-	from meeting the One whose love will never cease!

When I think of me, I can only see the doubts,
But because He is who He is, He made a way out.
Because He is the King of Kings,
Someday I’ll fly on perfect wings!

Freedom In Christ

Silent, He bore His cross
Endured the pain and shame
Under the scrutiny
Of scoffers filled with sin
Feeling their mutiny

Gave up His life for those
Who left Him suspended
Between heaven and earth
Alone, undefended

Silent, He bore His cross
Erasing our sin debt

Reminds us what was paid
So on God we can call

I didn’t realize how much I grieve
	until a friend said, oh… see the children,
the little ones, dying – precious babies
they’re gone to heaven so young
gone to heaven – precious children, little ones
they’ve never lived this life,…

while I consider this life – with all its struggling
the dark days when pain feels so disconcerting
the worries, the fears, the trouble that comes
to the hearts who keep living… the sad and lonely
who know that God has them in this world
for a reason… but, oh…

wouldn’t death be easier, to go on to heaven
to feel the peace that comes to the spirit with Him
the One who I seek when I seek the joy that agrees
it would be easier – so much easier
to never live, to just go on to the home
where He’s waiting, where He’s the light
the love that penetrates the darkness, the fears
all the tears that seem so frequent on this journey
where we silently pray for His comforting, His grace
the wonder of His love, sent to us from up above
where we yearn to go…

heaven, oh precious place, heaven where I will see His face
heaven, home for my soul to rest – the stillness of a faith
heaven, never just a place, heaven is the Savior’s dwelling,
where we will know what it means to be surrounded..
	by the gentle flow of a love who arose
		from the darkness of a grave, just so He might save
the ones who come to Him, seeking His presence –
	His unending blessing, the love that just keeps expressing
		selfless giving and grace, selflessness that prays
			wherever He is, that is the place
where heaven is… yes, it would have been easier to leave this world
	when I was just a child – never seeing the lonely miles,	
		the struggles, the sorrow, the despair – the cares,
but, I have learned from my journey – that love is worth all the worry
love, His love… silences my yearnings, keeps me filled with joy
from knowing that I will one day be – in the presence of the only true KING!

In my heart, there lives a prayer
for blessings of love, hope and faith
blessings so pure they speak of His grace
blessings that prove, He is surely faithful

In my soul, there lives a promise
assurance that He is there,
a silent friend, sometimes speaking
other times, offering His gentle peace

In my spirit, there lives sweet praise
for all He’s given me, all the joy
brought to provide a stillness
a beautiful beyond my wildest dreams

In my life, I’ve found that He’s the light
shining down through the shadows
reassuring me that everything will be made right
wherever He is, there is a gentle sigh…

a promise that He is with me,
taking away the doubt,
soothing my soul so I know I’m blessed
bringing His word to guide
revealing His light – It always shines
so I see Him clearly, always near me
forever aware that I need Him so
eternally giving me the joy in my soul

His blessings poured out

melting my darkness, glistening color
through the melancholy, 
imaginations playing on the winds,
of yesterday, where they stir…
rustling,
murmurs of light, 
breathless, yet silent
as the loneliest nights,
shadows inviting the music, songs blurring,
the melodies with insight,
intrigue, inviting,
hearts to see beneath the misty mornings,
the colors in rich scarlet,
breathless cobalt and soothing violet,
begetting the music
glistening thoughts, melting
deception, blessing verity, affections,
in graceful tones, imagine,
wisdom, so honest and devoted
to the light who falls, cleansing away
the whispers of a past, the dark
that has held my soul in its grasp,

Love answered our heart with grace,
saving souls through faith,
in the One who made a way,
when He arose from the tomb,
leaving only a memory
buried in the tomb where He once lay,
Oh, but, He didn’t stay there.
No, He didn’t stay…. 
And, for all eternity, we can praise,
just His name,…
Jesus,
is enough to say – His name is enough
to quiet every evil of this world.
His name is enough reason to sing praise,
forevermore… Praise God, Praise Jesus,
the One who died and rose again
so I could live in eternity with Him,
my very best friend,
the reason that light surrounds me,
washing me in the calm,
His ever soothing balm,
forever, all through time, His love
will breath joy through my soul,
sing satisfaction into my yearning heart,
erase the deafening cries,
all the alibis
with the song of faith,
the poetry, the grace, the melody
of a day, when we all are changed,
in the twinkling of an eye,
we’ll be on the other side,
with the One who changed our life,
the One who heard our cries,
and took away those burdens,
replacing them with a smile,
because forever… sings the light,
