Kindness and Grace (couplet)
Life is like a gentle sigh
Breathing out a heartening reply
Coloring the thoughts in laughing gold
Silencing worries and struggles so untold
Whispering peace into the heart and soul
Lighting up the spirit so it’s alive and whole
Easing the broken heart with warm hope
That comforts the solemn, helping them cope
Breaking through the worry and pain
Soothing the heart who knows the rain
Life isn’t about who will always win the race
It’s about who will love with kindness and grace
Ode to Narnia (Ekphrasis) All the animals were in sync Whispering, singing And speaking with such ease They rejoiced in the light Of the fresh dawn And the caress of the moon They lingered in the winds Of laughing pleasures Soothing away worries and depression They warmed themselves by fires Of inspiration and joy Dancing on the passion of excitement They bid the stardust nights A enchanted reception Dawdling in the shimmer of their kiss They breathed a gentle thought Through the glad spirit Reflecting grace and hope so plentiful They reminded me just why I love With all my heart and soul Because the creator above loves so much more! All the animals drew the children closer Assuring them that belief would bring The ultimate satisfaction, peace which endures Every stress, worry or grief Love that would always bring them Through the storms that came so frequently He taught them all, through the animals That God is wise above all the answers He gives to those who pray for His wisdom He is the giver of life – through grace He brings the worst sinner to repentance And assures us all that He saves completely Narnia was and is… the greatest book I’ve ever read And C.S. Lewis is an author I believe Followed Jesus to the best of his ability His words flowed with hope, faith and love His heart taught that life is built on trust In Jesus and His unconditional love!
Laughing Lavender Lilacs (imagism) Laughing purple lilacs rain wonders through a thirsty soul – by poet Lavender lilacs, tranquil and prayerful Fill up the heart with a sense of compassion Lightly whispering in the morning breeze Gentling the eyes with breaths of pure love Serenity flows warm through the tender petals Melting away all worry, pain or depression With holy hints of soft color - happiness sighing To the heavens where my heart is admiring Gracious and glorious blossoms of lilacs Penetrating the soul with heavy boughs Flowers so cheerful, they bring laughter to the Silence and contentment to the forlorn Purple lilacs so alive they dance in the hues Of a buttery yellow sun who delights in shining Down through halos that surround everyone With a glow of purity only found on angel’s arms As they bless the ground where Lilacs bloom in the shadows of a dream So beautiful it sings the sweetest melody A chorus of hope, faith and love Sent down on these green leaves Who murmur of God’s great peace Given to hearts who listen to the senses As they reflect on the lilac’s brilliant semblance
Living Water (kyrielle)
Living water, He is alive
liquid goodness, so I survive
He calms all my fears, hears my plea
O God, be merciful to me.
Gentle hope, He knows my heartbeat
all my demons He will defeat
Light of my life, love that is free
O God, be merciful to me.
Whisper of joy, song of my dreams
lover of my soul, splashing streams
He blesses - I fall to my knee
O God, be merciful to me.
Silent healing, hope raining down
hues of soft grace where I will drown
Away all my doubts in the sea
O God, be merciful to me.
Thank you you’re is absolutely inspiring. Coincidentally, my late wife was Olivia Graham, her father was Bill Graham and my great grandmother on my mother’s side was also named Graham. A synchronicity!
