Confronting Shadows
in the spring, when petals praise
within the song of grace who’ll amaze
beneath the silence of a gentle bud
there is a power, power in the blood
in the summer, when stories reveal
hope so sacred, sacred enough to heal
beyond the sun grows a life of wonder
singing exultation in the raging thunder
in the autumn, when leaves begin to weep
there is a promise of the light we can keep
between the glow of a morning mist
and the music that flows through our midst
in the winter, when all the bitter closes in
remember the music of a silence who’ll begin
telling the story of peace that never ends
promising the night to reveal the soul’s friend
in the seasons, when the song is composed
there is a serenity that is often exposed
inside the soul who hears the gentle voice
of One who saves by offering a choice
in the love that comes from knowing
real life is found in the blood that’s flowing
from a tree on calvary, where love lay bare
offering each of us the chance to say one prayer
a prayer of repentance, a prayer of hope
a prayer of love that means we can cope
a prayer that never fades beyond the heart
a prayer the remembers He gave us a new start
beneath the shadows that fell from that tree
there is a promise for you and me,
as we confront the sin that tries to defeat
we’re offered a love that will surely complete
beneath the shadows that we confront
we never need worry as we hunt
for the purpose He’s given our souls
as we’re reminded He always consoles
never look back, after taking His hand
He is the answer to the promised land
when you seek the love hidden in shadows
you’re met with the One who died and arose
never stop seeking the grace, hope and love
His is a music that keeps playing up above
as you sing this song and realize what’s worthwhile
you’ll know you’ve met the light no shadow can defile
Spiritual Warfare Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. When spiritual warfare nears, my breath stills As the dreaded forces bring me fear that chills While the dark shadows play with my soul I know a Father who can free, making me whole When the enemy brings out his worst tormentors We’re reassured by the hearts who’re our mentors The ones who repent from every sin and flaw Leaving behind the dark shadows of the outlaw Remembering, with grace there is a promise God loves each one, even the doubting Thomas When spiritual warfare takes away all your hope Know there is a Savior and He will help you cope When no where on earth can peace be found Look up to the One God Himself has crowned When my spirit is wounded by the enemy’s darts And everywhere I look, I see those broken hearts I look to the gentle skies, where love is preserved By the One who poured out love I never deserved Sometimes, I fail Him and still, He loves me so With a love so kind and powerful, it will forever flow When I least expect Him to understand my fears He offers me His hand and wipes away all my tears Jesus is the King who makes a way for all who believe And all we have to do is hear the story and receive His love is meant for those who know Him best Those who’ve truly believed Him and confessed Hearts who know His peace will never want to leave With Him, there is a purpose that will not deceive When spiritual warfare seems beyond our control You can be assured of this love who will make you whole He is the twinkle in the stars, the laughter in the sun With Him, one moment can show you what love has done As your spirit wars with the enemy of the light Know you can depend on the One who makes things right With Him, there is a promise that love will always be Just listen to His voice as you bow on bended knee As the spirit wars with the darkness that comes to steal Remember you know a Savior who will surely heal With Him beside you, you never need to worry or doubt Just cling to His gentle hand until you get it figured out Listen to the voice of the One who created every soul Allow Him to guide you home, where He’ll make you whole Believe the love that came down to change the life Of every heart who hears and believes, despite strife He is the One who stirs the spirit with a feeling of grace That is promised to every soul who yearns for His embrace! Never let the spirit’s war stop you from holding on to hope Jesus died on a cross, then rose again so that we can cope!
Shadows of the Heartbroken Wipe away the tears and listen to the voice – of a heart who knows, love is the only choice ~ by author Tears didn’t come when I first heard The words of this illness, so absurd When a tumor is found, the light stills Because we all know a fear that kills Tears weren’t wiped away until I prayed Jesus answered even though I was afraid He told me to never listen to the voice of fear Because He has the answers, makes things clear Tears didn’t come that very first day They were waiting for love to convey Assurance that kindles a hope and reason With Jesus there is love to fill each season Tears weren’t the first answer for me Instead I felt His touch as I bent my knee He is here to show us that love will make a way Whatever comes, for us, He has the final say Tears didn’t come until I remembered what love has done He brought the heart a second chance with His only Son He saved the sinner who was destined for the worst place Changed a life so that they’d be freed by His amazing grace Tears weren’t the first thing to fall against the ground First I knew the touch of the One who love has crowned And I felt the joy of knowing whatever comes to me With Him, there is the promise that I’ll forever be free! Tears didn’t come when I heard the words so feared They came to my eyes when the smoke had cleared And I remembered that this love I feel inside my heart Is a love that my Savior stirred from the very start Tears weren’t the answer, though they stung my eyes They were the relief from a heart who He baptized The tears told a story of a longing for God’s very best Even though, through this illness, we’re put to the test Tears didn’t come when I first heard the word ‘tumor’ They clung to my soul, leaving the doubtful rumor Only time will tell what Jesus has in store for you and me I know, whatever comes, LOVE has caused me to truly see!
The Flowers that are bent on perfecting themselves, by becoming double, are sure to end in barrenness. . . . The true ideal flower is the one that uses its gifts as a means to an end. The brightness and sweetness are not for its own glory; they are but to attract the bees and butterflies that will fertilize and make it fruitful.
